Terms of Service
Effective date: September 25, 20261. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Kairis app (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. If you publish a protocol to the Kairis Community or share one by reference, you also agree to the separate Community Standards.
2. Description of the Service
Kairis lets you create and use protocols for everyday activities and wellbeing. You can also browse community protocols and, when eligible, publish your own or share a protocol by reference link or code through the App. Sharing features depend on Apple iCloud and CloudKit availability.
3. Community Publishing
Publishing is a deliberate action. When you publish, the App sends a copy of your protocol to the Kairis Community in CloudKit's public database. The published content can include its title, summary, steps, notes, sources, evidence notes, safety information, and contraindications. Your chosen display name or pen name appears with the publication, and an iCloud user identifier is associated with it to manage authorship and publication. Community content may be viewed, copied into the App, and rated by other users. Do not publish information that you want to keep private.
You are responsible for the content you publish and for having the rights needed to share it. You must keep published content accurate to the best of your knowledge and comply with applicable law and the Community Standards. Automated publication checks do not mean Kairis has reviewed or endorsed a protocol. Updates to a published protocol are new public versions and must also comply with these requirements.
You keep ownership of your content. By publishing, you grant the developer a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, display, and make that content available as needed to operate the Community. You also grant other App users permission to view, save, and customize copies of the protocol in the App, and to publish their customized versions to the Kairis Community, subject to these Terms and the Community Standards. Users who republish a version must give appropriate credit to the original creator and must have the rights to share any material they add or retain. This permission covers only rights you can grant; it does not license third-party material beyond the rights its owner has given. The developer's license lasts while your publication is available through the Community. Removal does not revoke permissions for copies already obtained or customized by other users.
You can remove your published protocol from the Community using the App. Removal deletes its community publication, but it cannot recall copies that other users already saved or used. Removing a publication does not delete your local protocol. Kairis may review reports and may reject, limit, remove, or archive community content, or restrict publishing access, when needed to enforce these Terms or the Community Standards or to protect users and the service. Publication and continued availability are not guaranteed.
4. Reference Sharing
Reference sharing is a deliberate, unlisted way to share an eligible locally authored protocol. When you create a share, the App uploads a snapshot of the protocol and a reference code to Apple's public CloudKit database. The snapshot includes its title, summary, steps, configuration, notes, sources, evidence notes, safety information, and contraindications. The App removes creator identity and attribution fields from the snapshot, but text you entered in those other fields remains visible. A reference share is not a Community listing. Anyone who receives the link or code can pass it on, retrieve the snapshot while the share is available, and save a separate copy in the App. Do not share information you want to keep private.
You keep ownership of the content you share by reference. By creating a reference share, you grant the developer a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, transmit, and display its snapshot as needed to provide reference sharing. You permit recipients to view and save their own copies in the App for personal use. You are responsible for the content and must have the rights needed to share it. A recipient needs the necessary rights to publish or distribute a copy beyond this permission. Reference-shared content must comply with applicable law and the Community Standards.
Reference shares do not expire by default. You can delete a share in the App, which removes its hosted snapshot and stops new imports through that link or code. Deleting a share does not delete your local protocol or copies recipients have already saved, and it cannot recall content they have shared elsewhere. The hosting license ends when the share is deleted, except as needed for copies already obtained and lawful service records. Kairis may review reports and reject, restrict access to, or remove a reference share, or restrict sharing access, to enforce these Terms or the Community Standards, address rights or safety concerns, or protect users and the service. Continued availability is not guaranteed.
5. Health and Safety
Protocols, including those published by other users, are for general information and personal use. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency guidance. Consider your own circumstances and seek qualified professional advice when appropriate. You are responsible for how you use a protocol; Kairis does not endorse or verify community protocols.
6. Subscriptions and Purchases
The App may offer optional auto-renewable subscriptions or one-time purchases through Apple's in-app purchase system.
All payments, billing, and subscription management are handled by Apple. Users can manage or cancel subscriptions through their Apple ID account settings. Refund requests are subject to Apple's policies.
7. Privacy
Published and reference-shared protocols are available as described above. Other data practices, including any optional device permissions, are described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
The App's software, design, and developer-provided content belong to the developer or their respective rights holders. Community protocols belong to their respective creators or rights holders, subject to the publishing permissions described above.
You may not copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from the App's software or developer-provided content without permission.
9. Availability and Limitation of Liability
The App and Community are provided "as is" and may be interrupted or changed. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer gives no warranty that the App, community content, or CloudKit services will be uninterrupted, accurate, or suitable for a particular purpose. To that same extent, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the App or community content. Nothing here limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. Access to the App or its Community features may be limited or terminated if you violate these Terms or the Community Standards. Copies of your published or reference-shared content already obtained by other users may remain with them after you stop using the App.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of The Netherlands. Any disputes arising from these terms will be handled in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
12. Changes to These Terms
These Terms of Service may be updated periodically. The effective date will be updated whenever changes are made.
